The Enlightenment Seminar

During the Fall Semester of even-numbered years, UC Honors and the School of Planning present this celebrated travel-study seminar on the birth of the modern world.  All UC Honors students are invited to apply for admission – and other students with a GPA of 3.2 or higher may be admitted if openings are available. Since only a limited number of students are accepted into the seminar, you should be sure to apply early at this site. *

For fifteen weeks you will read fascinating texts from the great thinkers of the Enlightenment period, mostly British, and engage in intensive seminar discussion sessions with your fellow students and the course director.  Then, on the brink of the winter term break you and your group depart for the United Kingdom, a "cradle land" of the Enlightenment, where you visit London and Cambridge University.

For more information about the seminar, contact Course Director Terry Grundy or Neil Choudhury at UC Honors.

* At the UHP Study Abroad/Study Tours site, click "United Kingdom - Fall 2018". On the page that opens, scroll down to "Application" and click the link that takes you to the application form. Students may enroll through OneStop only after being accepted into the seminar by the Course Director.
